Curriculum

Our curriculum is in accordance with the graduation of extremely capable professors in Science and Materials Engineering. Despite this definition, our program is open for other specialties undergraduates since they may adapt to our curriculum and develop activities successfully.

Our curriculum is made of compulsory subjects, Material Science and Materials Characterization Technique, and optional subjects for graduation in both generic and specific formation. The compulsory subjects aim to develop learners’ leveling. It is noteworthy that those who were not originally admitted to Engineering may have some difficulties, but, with proper assistance, they can fix it.

The second group of subjects is made of general graduation subjects aimed to research development and of subjects related to materials technology specialization. There are 24 options, including specific subjects related to polymer, ceramic and metal technology. To meet PPG-CEmat students’ necessities, subjects like Special Topics may be included in our program, depending on the availability of UFCG and / or guest professors.

The curriculum is in accordance with PPG-CEMat research lines: Composites, Blends, Materials Durability and Recycling, Advanced Materials, Ceramic Materials and Physical Metallurgy, so that students are given the necessary technical and scientific subsidies for the development of Postgraduate works.

In order to provide Master’s Degree, PPG-CEMat demands: 22 hours of classes; dissertation project approved by Collegiate; Master seminar approved by qualified board and homologated by Collegiate, and Master Dissertation approved by qualified board and Collegiate. The demands for Doctorate are: 35 hours of classes; Project, Seminar and Qualification approved by qualified board and homologated by Collegiate and Thesis approved by board and Collegiate.

The table below presents PPG-CEMat compulsory and specific subjects, as well as the workloads.
